accurate. I use a piece of cardboard on the radiator to prevent damage. You may want to use a bit of creativity to use 2 or more strokes to compress the pressure plate. depress. hold piston with respect to the cylinder, stroke again then insert the wire under the fingers of the pressure plate. Take care not to score the piston in the process. I would replace the clutch plate, rear main seeal, slave seals (o-rings), pilot bearing. as a minimum because I am 'There'. A bit of rocking of the car in gear may be necessary to lever the shaft out.
