The "classic" 900 is very reliable if well maintained at regular intervals. Look for an independent mechanic with experience on Saabs as main dealers tend to be pricey. Maintenance cost in my experience is rather low (IMHO) but fuel-economy can be disappointing. So, is 1993 too old? My 1990 900i (8v) has been acting as my daily driver for four years (40.0000 km/y) and had has proved a very reliable and comfortable ride. The main reason why I bought a 1992 900T16S just this week was lower mileage and performance. The 900i will stay with us for, ahh well, we didn't want to part from it. The price seems fine (at least in Holland it would), the car has been just run in so if it has been well cared for you can expect many years of driving it.
