Subject: cold start pooblem (88 900i)

In the morning when I start the car, it starts up very quickly, but then the revs drop right down after maybe 1 second, and I have to floor the accelerator to keep it going, which does not always work in which case the engine dies, but restarts sort of ok... Also after I have floored it and managed to restore the revs, it runs very badly for about 30 - 40 seconds, (which is possibly as a result of being floored, as it says in the manual not to touch the throttle for 10 seconds after starting, so presumably it doesn't like it). If it dies completely and I have to restart it, it takes maybe 4-5 seconds of cranking, whereupon it restarts, doesn't attempt to die, but still runs horribly... This morning, before I started it, I went right the way through the electrical system, dried it all etc, but this made no difference whatsoever... Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, John
