Subject: Engine Fan on 9-3 SE LPT

I have a 9-3SE 2.0 LPT (UK) with Auto Climate Control. Could anyone confirm if it is normal for the engine fan to run a lot of the time on this car ? Basically, even when the engine is not very warm (before mid point on the temp gague) the engine fan seems to run a lot of the time. The car does not overheat or anything (and I don't loose any coolant fluid) so I was just wondering if it's normal for the fan to run like this as I'm due the 18k service soon and was going to mention this when it's still under warranty. If I turn off the ACC system then the engine fan only comes on when I am sitting in heavy traffic on a hot day which I expect. Therefore, I assume that use of the ACC is related to the fan kicking in ? Thanks in anticipation for any response.
