According to our local dealer the computer has a light sensor built in that automatically adjusts the clock/computer and the economy display on the dash. Alledgely, the only fix is to replace the whole unit.... for £300UKP - so the dealers advice was to live with it! If anyone knows of a fix, Im sure Dude and my father would be most grateful! H.
