Air cooled, huh? If I'm not very much mistaken, NG 900s use water cooled turbos, same as later OG900s, 9000s and 9.5s. In the old days, when the only cooling a turbo's bearings got was through it's lubricating oil (as on pre 1987 OG 900s), letting the car idle for a minute or so before sut down was a must. Also, not beating the car when the engine is cold. When water cooling was introduced, it made a big difference to turbo life expectancy. However, even a water cooled turbo will glow cherry red after a thrash at 90mph. So, my advice is this. Don't worry about it too much, but don't boost hard until the car's had a chance to warm up, and if you've been cruising at high speed, or doind lots of had accelerating, give the car 30-60 secs of idle time before shutting off.
