Paul, Dont know the answer, but just bought a 9000 T, and have much the same problem. Aircon compressor is running, but not doing much, weird screeching noise from dash, and temp gauge rises almost up to the red before dropping back to normal. Cars going in for a service, and I have asked them to have a look, cos the car is dark grey with dark leather, and its like sitting in an oven + the ACC is trying to cool the car, but just ends up blowing hot air everywhere!
