I have a 1985 5 speed manual (non turbo) Saab 900. Recently the brakes have been intermittently soft (i.e when I press there is less resistance than normal and sometimes when stopped the pedal will almost go to the floor). Usually if I come off the brake and brake again the pressure comes back. Once the brake fluid light flashed on but only briefly. This has only been happening once in a while. Service wise the rear brake lines were recently replaced in another city. My mechanic (not a specialist) could not find anything wrong with the brakes. He said it might be the master cylinder but he was describing the brakes going soft after long periods of not braking (i.e highway driving) while I've been noticing the problem more often in city driving. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks John Hepworth
