I have a 95' 900s (2.3i) that I have had for like a year and a half and I started to notice a small vibration in idle and through acceleration up to around 3500 rpms. I took it to one independent shop and they said engine mounts, two dealerships and another independent shop say that it is not the engine mounts. So I took it in today to have some work done and told them (Saab Dealership) again about the vibration, they had the two senior mechanics drive it and they listened to the engine and found the vibration is coming from the balance shaft area. they wrote on the service write up: "Vibration due to internal engine balance concern; possible failure of balance shaft related components;estimate to tear down and inspect is 1230$" I was a little upset why a car with 85,000 needed work like this, can someone help me out and educate me on why it would? I would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem and what I should do? Is this going to hurt the car in the long run? Thanks in advance. Tory P.S. I drive to Seattle from San Diego twice a year, I am leaving in like a month--should this be fixed before or does it matter?.....1200miles
