You can without any concern import the car to the US. This is how it works for Saab: The US emission-regulations are tougher than the EEC-regulations. This means that whenever Saab releases a new engine-generation, they're build to fullfill the US-regulations. Having this as a goal, Saab doesn't need to look at the EEC-regulations, as they're already met. So, buing a swedish 900SE Turbo will meet both your requirements as well as the US-gourverment.
