Subject: Re: Mounting CD in Glove box?

My Clarion 635 install in glove box of 95 900SET coupe was quite easy, but took 3-4 hrs all told. I doubt the OEM changer would fit, the 635 is much smaller. Anyone tried fitting the OEM in the glove box? From memory, here were my basic steps: ===================== 1. Test fit, notice that there's enough room if the CD changer is mounted to the ROOF of the glove box (door wouldn't close if CDC was on FLOOR of box). 2. Unscrew / disassemble half the dash (was winter, didn't want to crack anything prying it apart). 3. Cut hole at rear left of glove box with dremel tool or hand saw for cable. 4. Slightly "reshape" back of glove box with hand torch and handle of a screwdriver (just to make a bit more room). 5. Attach 300-foot cable supplied with CDCF and test. Was VERY happy when this was just plug-and-play! Coil up miles of extra cable inside dash out of the way. 6. Mount brackets to CDC, drill corresponding holes thru roof of glovebox. Find bolts that will fit (ended up using bike water bottle cage mounting bolts which were short, fit the supplied brackets/nuts, and looked sleek). This was the most time consuming step. Any Qs, feel free to ask. -Micah > From: "Andrew Beck" <andrewnopsamcentral.com> > Organization: Excitenopsam - The Leader in Broadband http://home.com/faster > Newsgroups: alt.autos.saab > Date: Sun, 08 Jul 2001 13:39:44 GMT > Subject: Mounting CD in Glove box? > > I was looking at the archives and saw some posts about people mounting the > CD changer in the glove box (compartment) instead of the rear left of the > trunk (boot). > > Can anybody give me some info/advice on how to do this?
