check the timing chain and the tensioner, also run a compression test on the cylinders, the "T" of that vintage has an inherent problem with number one cylinder (closest to the right hand side) running hotter than the rest, if you have to pull the head check it for piston chips around the top above the ring. a small chip won't hurt you unless you drive it hard (constantly going above 5k rpm). also have a competent SAAB mechanic check the valve lash. if it's off you may have carbon buildup on a valve seat. if it were me i'd try a pint of marvel to an oil change. i'd also run a couple of tanks of high octain through it and drive the engine above 3k rpm for 50 miles or so. this will hopefully burn the carbon off the seats if that's your problem.
