the only '87 Saab with Serpentine belt was a 9k. Ideas: worn water pump bearing (yes, the bearing CAN fail without the seal failing), worn idler pulley bearing, about to fail damper pulley. Look closely at the damper pulley (lower) and also the idler. The idler pulley has a damper on it and it can cease to damp and allow the idler to jump all over. good luck KeithG "Nate t.
