Subject: Re: Various Oil ?

Manny, I use Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic. My car is a Turbo, so the added protection is warranted in my opinion. 5W30 is for lower temperatures (WAY below 0) Stick with 10w30 or 10w40 (the 40 indicates that it maintains its viscosity at higher temperatures, the 5 indicates that it is liquid at very low temperatures that you will probably never see in Muenchen). Reports are that Mobil 1 and other PAO synthetics have a 'cleaning' effect on the engine crankcase. I would NEVER EVER put anything but engine oil in the engine and no 'cleaners' or lubricity enhancers such as Teflon, etc. The sludge in the crankcase is formed generally from fuel blowby and oxidation of the oil. It collects in the crankcase over time. Especially if the engine oil was not regularly changed.
