Subject: Flashing Check Enginer Light? (1991 900S)

Hi folks. The other day my check engine light came on (1991 900S). It flashed 4 times (and then repeated) when the engine was at idle. Anything above idle the light stayed on steady. Does anyone know what this means? I read the Bently manual and it doesn't seem to mention this condition. This may or may not be relevant... but the next time I turned on the car the check engine light was off and it hasn't come on since. I think it may have been a fluke because of the conditions when the light first came on: It was a very hot day and I had just started the car and driven about 3 blocks. I had to stop at a stop sign and then go up a very steep hill (5-speed tranny). The light came on the instant I started up the hill. I may have had the AC on too, I'm not sure. I figure that all this strain (hot day, steep hill, "cold" engine, AC) could cause a sensor to go out of range for a split second and cause the light to come on.... maybe. In any case, I'm curious what the 4 flashes means. Thanks for the assitance, mark
