I would shift at 2000 to 3000 rpms under normal condition in a 1986 NA 8 Valve. When I wanted to merge in traffic I would fine myself in 3rd gear at 50 to 55 mpg, which was about 5000 rpms. No problems with the engine as that particular engine is known for its durability and a I ran Mobil 1 in from day one. I am currently driving a 1990 16 valve NA and I hope the engine is just as strong. jw wrote: > I've read some varying comments on how high people will rev > before for they shift their classic 900s.
