danny says... >> WELL....I hope not Danny! I mean, I just assume a man who owns a motorcycle >> would make tires a top notch priority. > >As it's more important on the bike, I take more notice. I think it is just as important on any vehicle, but more dangerous on a bike. >I knew I had a bulge, but >it was small. (They all say that!). HA!!! <no comment> >> Dad laid into me. The back tire was bald and he told me to ALWAYS look at >> tires. > >I've ridden a bike tyre to the canvas once, just to see how deep it went - and it's >deep, although the actual tyre is quite thin. Why on earth would you do that? And people say stuff about MY driving. >In Spain/Italy, all the scooters I >saw had bald tyres ("slicks" :)) which is actually better when you know it isn't >going to rain, as there is more rubber in contact with the road surface. Yes, and they are more expensive too. > >> How could you drive around like that? >> Didn't you feel it? >> Did money hold you back or something? > >Money always holds me back! Hehe, I know the feeling. But it felt better than it actually was - it braked OK, >and only had a slight vibration . Well.....that is because it is a SAAB!!! Now, you know better. >> The beams should meet in the middle of the front of the vehicle. > >It's actually complicated over here to get the alignment right. The beam has to be >a certain height against something like a brick wall at a certain distance, as well >as the nearside beam lighting the pavement in such a way as to get the correct >pattern (descending beam on left from left to right, horizontal beam on right, >joined to bottom of left beam, and all at the right height). Sort of.... That is sort of what I do, in my garage. It works best for me when they meet in the middle, but it isn't easy to get it like that. ~J~
