Sounds like a fuel pump relay, take it out and check for wobbly pins. Mine had a dry joint, which I soldered back properly after taking the cover off. Works fine now - saved about 120 UKP! Check that you have voltage at the fuel pump of a few seconds when you turn the ignition on. No voltage - probably the relay or a blown fuse. You can also temporarily jumper pins 15 - 87, you should hear the relay run when you have the ignition on. This should allow the car to start and run.
