I don't understand this. Yes, the discs are supposed to wear a little with the pads, but no car of mine, Saab or otherwise, ahs eaten discs in less than 80k miles, and my current Saab has had it's first new discs in 128k miles. Unless they run out of true, the standard test is for disc thickness, or rather how much the disc has worn, by feeling for a ridge round the disc. It is possible for overheating brakes (usually binding) to blue the discs, and for slight cracks to appear, both of which would mean new discs.
