Wrong technique. Fix the holes with sheet metal, fiberglass, or if you really don't care much about the car, with aluminum screen stuck from the rear with Bondo. The repair should be about 1/16" below the normal panel height. Don't try to use Bondo as a structural component. It is meant to surface, not to fill holes. Then, use a THIN coating of bondo to blend the repair area into the adjoining body. You can rough shape the Bondo as it starts to cure with a Stanley Sureform tool. Do the final coat with a straight edge as close as you can get it. Use 80 grit for the first cut on a flat board or sander. Fill again for any low spots, sand again. Use smoother paper ie. 100, then 150, 240, 400 etc, until you get to whatever level of finish you want. Use 'Red Lead' to fill any left over scratch marks or minor flaws. Bob
