It's not the wheeling across the office that take the time >with the phone call: it's the looking up of the number, the >dialing, the talking to the other person, the waiting on hold, >the more talking, the more waiting on hold, etc, etc. Hey Viktor - that is how life is! I mean, you just can't get too far without waiting on hold anymore. Try calling a computer manufacturer for tech support! Talk about being on hold....I'm talking 15-20 mins. Maybe I'm just too patient, I don't know. > >I find that talking to my dealership takes five to ten minutes. That's nothing. > >And it requires my attention for those five to ten minutes. Oh no! > >I can fire off a post to a newsgroup in well under a minute, and >I don't have to sit holding the receiver waiting for answers. Yes, but you always trust the answers you get? > >Sometimes immediate answers is not as important as the amount of >total time taken by the task. Hmmm......I see - you've got it all rationalized out huh> > >I find that these days the phone has become my least preferred >method of long distance communication having been well >outstripped by email. Oh yeah, unless it is actually someone I WANT to talk to, then I can talk for a while. I like hearing voices, as opposed to email. But, in business I've taken more to email too. I'm having a phone line problem and went through the phone method, being on hold, press one for this...blah, blah... Now I just sent them an email and we will see if THAT goes around and around too. > >Still, I agree, it does sounds crazy. It does, I must say but at least you didn't get all pissed off about it. Where was the quote from, or you don't want to tell me? ~J~
