As for the "simple VOM could test (o2 sensor)", No because chances are it's going to be tested when it's cold and in static conditions. I'm not sure that 88' vintage had stored codes; beside a simple VOM test will require taking it to a garage. As a matter of fact, I now lean towards the spark plug wires. Tony
