When I'm driving down the highway and the wind gusts are strong, I see vans all over the road. My car holds steady. >I doubt it was more than a 40mph >gust, and who knows, maybe my gas tank was near empty and maybe my rear >tires were a little worn, maybe there was a little ice on top of the snow, >all I know is I wound up at the light facing the wrong direction. If I use snow tires (one bad >>winter I used studs) I've always only used them on the front and never >>had a problem. >> > >I've switched to 4 studded every year; it's a little noisy but worth it. You sound like my Dad, he always uses four and tells me to use four but I've always only used two and I'll just stick to that since I never had problems getting stuck. Last winter though, I did have to dig out when I was backing up and got my stuck in about a foot of snow. No big deal, my own stupidity. >I'm waiting to see how bad the noise is in my new (to me) 98 900SE; it's so >quiet most of the time. Yeah, that is what I like. Sometimes my ears pop when I put the window down. The studs can be noisy, but I haven't found it too bad with them just on the front. ~J~
