Winter tires have less grip that all seasons in all conditions except snow covered roads. Large, flat blocks with big openings give poor dry traction, hydroplane in the rain, and do worse on ice - unless it is covered by snow. Your comment that "The handling is of course sloppy as hell" is right on the money. Unless conditions are snowy, winter tires contribute to accidents, they don't reduce them. So, here in MA/USA, I'd report my original proposal: If you drive on roads that are snow free 98% of the time, drive all seasons. Lets face it, they plow so fast and furious now that it's a rare year that we drive on snow anytime except right after a storm. Buy the all seasons around here for your Saab. Bob
