Many people do not care to have a great handling tire in the winter when they can have one that is "good enough to get by". I figure the cost of snow tires is about the cost of two tow jobs out of drifts and much less than the repair work resulting from an accident. Therefore I don't think $$ spent on snow tires are wasted, even if you don' get alot of snow.
