Subject: Re: Does anyone use synthetic oils?

Synthetic has better flow characteristics at low temps which we get much of in January and February here in Kanada, however I had an `86 Accord which had 265,000 MILES on it and I used nothing but dino oil, and changed oil and filter every 2400-3000 MILES the car also ran like new when it was totalled.never used anymore oil than it did when it was new?,.never touched the engine or tranny except for valve adjustments and oil changes..and was never babied, several trips to the west coast from Ontario and speeds in excess of 110 MPH when it was a prima facie speed limit in Montana . Just set the cruise. NO problems .By the way,the car was totaled by a 70 year old retard or it would still be on the road today.Today I use Mobil1 synthetic in January and February ,5w30 and revert to regular dino oil in the warmer weather.... I now have a `92 Accord.with 80,000 miles on it and no problems. Your oil change intervals do not change because you use synthetic.... > > My car has done 81000 miles, but still runs as new, so I have no > intention of using an inferior oil. However, I rather change > the oil more frequently than using an expensive oil such as > Mobil 1. As said before, the oil satisfies API SJ/CF ACEA A3/B3 > which is more than Saabs requirements. I never let the engine > overheat or trashing it in any other ways. > > So let me put your on the spot: Why exactly is Mobil 1 better?
