This is an interesting question (with an interesting premise), because stores in my area (Illinois) have all the full synthetic oils priced within about 15% of each other, with Mobil 1 being the most commonly available and often the lowest priced. One or two stores may have "store brands" available from time to time at about 20% of the Mobil 1 price, but that can't be relied on. Also, stores occasionally have a 4.75L (5 Gal.) promotional jug of Mobil 1 that is nearly 50% of the regular quart pricing. I expect that the statement of "Mobil One is an exceptional product that anyone would be wise to use" is based on personal experience with that brand and isn't meant to detract from any other true sytnetic brands. I believe that this thread origianlly started with a question asking if/how synthetic oils were better than standard oils.
