In any event I ended up buying the BMW. On balance I think the 9-5 is the better all-round vehicle, but a few small things like the color and trim made this particular BMW preferable. I hope I don't end up regretting it - I'm already a little concerned about the way BMW's design forces the owner to buy expensive custom parts and accessories exclusively from BMW ($300 for a unique battery?!! $700 extra for a unique CD changer which should have been standard in the first place?!! You have to visit the dealer to reset the "Service Overdue" warning on the instrument panel?!! Only the dealer can program the key remote functions?!!). And they complain about Saab's key on the centre console...!
