do not know the specifics of the '93 9k, but I would look for a switch on the brake or clutch (if present) pedal. If it is the same vacuum/electrical switch as on the earlier cars, it can be adjusted by pullin out on the plunger. You will hear a number of clicks and it will reset when the pedal is released. It may be worn out and need replacement.
