As far as I can tell from the warranty agreement, it is essentially a continuation of the new car warranty, but with some limitations. It says it covers all mechanical, electrical and electronic components "other than those nominated". Items nominated as not covered are: all bodywork, handles, hinges, trim, rubber seals, carpets, seat belts, wiper blades/arms,wheels/tyres, upholstery, convertible roof mechanism, sheet metal, paint, glass, clutch burnout/lining wear& tear, brake pads/disks/shoes/linings, bulbs/lamps/lenses, batteries, any non-standard eqpt not fitted as original eqpt, exhaust system (but catalytic convertor is still covered), and any service items subject to periodic replacement - eg timing belts. (I may have missed a couple of items, but you get the general idea) It also gives you continued Roadside Assist, and all the benefits of that. There are some conditions. You must maintain the car through an authorised Saab dealer per the servicing schedule, and you mustn't be guilty of contributory negligence - ie driving on when you have an urgent warning light, etc. I thought it was worth getting it just for my peace of mind. I too had a turbo replaced before the 3 year warranty would have expired. It I lost another one after the warranty expired, that would cost over double the extended warranty premium. Hope that helps.
