My impression of these kind of products is that the black pigment doesn't do much, it is the polish that gives the desired effect. I have used ordinary colourless trim polish with much the same effect. It doesn't seem to last very long and any whiteness caused by acidental application of wax still shows through. What I would like to know is what is a good solvent for removing the wax before applying the polish.
