I can't imagine how the AMM can be cleaned! The little wires inside are far too tiny and brittle - any attempt at cleaning will surely ruin the AMM completely. Perhaps the throat or the wire mesh but that's not the part that goes over time. Replacing my AMM on my 9000 solved the symptoms that you describe. I got a used one from Andrew's (www.andrewsofprincetom.com i think) and I've seen them on eBay. Don't know what year your 9000 is but the air filter on my 87 is at the bottom of the air intake box just north of the battery. You have to remove the AMM plumbing, pop off the clips and the head of the box will lift off allowing you to change the filter. -chris
