Subject: Re: 85 Saab 900s Air Flap Controller Problems

AL <aledezmanopsamcom> pressed random keys until the following was produced: > do you know anything about Saab or are you just annoying people? My, what an odd way of responding to someone who is trying to help. Your question was unclear (and hard to read), and I was asking for clarification before jumping in with an answer based on incomplete information. > bun-warmers are not on. (i'm whispering now.) the flap i am referring to > is the one on the passenger-side just under the hood right in front of the > windshield. What does this have to do with your seats being hot? > this is why the hood portion has slots in it. the air that > comes into the car from these slots is hot. the ducts end on the > floorboard, just in front of the front seats. the seats heat up from the > air coming from these ducts. how do i keep this flap (controlled by a > vacuum) from opening? Ah. Does it act normally with the air recirculation button on your dash? In other words, if you press the button to "on" (lit), does the flap close? Does it then open back up if you press the button again? > this term (air flap controller) was sent to me in > an e-mail from Bob at: Trollhattan Auto Parts Inc. directnopsamrtroll.com . > if you think this term is incorrect, what is the proper name of the unit > that controls this flap? I suppose that term is correct, but your question was unclear. Now that you've (somewhat testily) clarified, I'll try to help anyway. Has your dash center portion been recently removed (radio work or such)? There is a vacuum line to the ventilation control that can easily get forgotten (line number 25, I seem to recall). Also, when you rotate your heater-vent-controller-thingy (technical term), does it make lots of clicking, sigh-ing, and wheezing noises? It should. If you hit the air recirc button, does the flap open and close, again with a sigh-ing noise? Dave "No, I don't know much about these..." Hinz
