In addition, the 'snorkeltube' can be the cause of a stiff clutch. I had mine replaced because it was leaking. FWIK, it is the tube that the throwout bearing rides on, It is lubricated and this lube became dry and hard. I had a stiff clutch and an erratic clutch inflection point as well as a leak. Once this was replaced, it was unbelievable how easy it was. This is with 50kmi and the original clutch. I have since sold the car. I hear that this is why Saab went back to the hydraulic clutch for the 9^3. In addition to the 'self adjusting' clutch cable nonsense. If you have one of these cars, keep a spare in the hatch. It is a cheap insurance policy.
