Based on what I see for depreciation, the '98 is probably a better deal assuming it is not a 'repaired' wreck or otherwise abused. the 9^3 lease is just less money a month until the lease ends. If you buy it out at the end of the lease, you may be able to make up a little, but the '98 is already taken its greatest depreciation hit and it is a low mile car. Most people drive that much in a year. Personally, I will not look at a car unless it is 2+ yrs old because I am a cheap skate. I generally buy them with 100,000 mi or so on them.
