I wonder if part of the reason why known Saab quality problems were not addressed earlier was that a significant number of people were saying that: (1) the problem wasn't with Saabs; it was with the people (particularly the Americans) who were driving them; and (2) while reliability problems existed, reliability was kind of dull, and other things were more important. Jaguar quality problems HAVE been addressed under Ford ownership, and it looks as if Saab quality problems have been addressed under GM ownership. That's all to the good in my view. If GM had listened to points (1) and (2) above, nothing would have been done.
