The percentages range between 15% and 35% and are mapped from a specific CO2 production g/km for the car. In effect this is a "double whammy" since larger (more expensive) cars produces more CO2, although it stops at 35%. I agree with you that the tax is a doubtfull tool. After all, the money collected can then be used for producing more CO2 in the public sector. However, I find that people in the US still love the gigantic sized cars, the yank-tanks has been replaced by even larger SUVs. The petrol flows more freely there since you only pay 30% of what we pay for petrol in most of Europe. Johannes
