A turbo is two turbins coupled together. One is driven by the exhaust, the other, is used to compress the air which is going into the engine. A compressor is one turbin, coupled to the engine, which is used to compress the air which is going into the engine. The turbo works when there is pressure from the exhaust, the compressor works all the time the engine is running. -- Arne Adli '96 Saab 900 SE Turbo
