In hindsight, it's obvious that they inflate by some form of device which looks/smells like smoke. Unfortunately, in a high impact accident, dazed and confused, an individual doesn't quite have their wits about them. As for bystanders, I imagine a fair amount of panic sets in also. As I stated earlier, public education could be a positive solution, at least to some degree? And just back on the topic, given others thoughts, my own accident, I think my preference is to drive with doors unlocked ;-) Davo
