From the owners manual: 2.0i NGK BCP 5EV 2.3i NGK BCPR 6ES All turbo NGK BCPR 7ES Gap for DI 1.0 mm The DI includes a self cleaning system for the spark plugs. Apparently, the DI system has been specially designed for the NGK plugs. Some people here have reported problems which they believe derive from using other plugs. However, the Haynes manual list a range of equivalent Champion plugs. With the DI and self cleaning system, the plugs should last well. Saab recommends a change at 24k miles. Once installed, just leave the plugs alone until next change is due. There is little benefit from servicing the plugs and the possible risk of misthreading or misgapping. So I see no reason to divert from NGKs and enter into the unknown: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But I welcome any opinion in this. Johannes
