You're worried about 0.1-0.2 of a second? Tyre heat, tyre condition, road surface, driver skill, etc - they all add up - 1-2/10 of a second doesn't amount to very much time... Let's face it - the current 9-3 is based on Opel Vectra c.1994 mechanicals - a decent body shell (but not very stable by modern standards) - and a rock solid, yet rough by BMW standards, engine - mated to a budget GM platform tuned to within an inch of it's life. I don't think anyone here could argue (honestly) that the only good things going for the Saab these days are body style, engine output, and style (which is subjective anyway). I am over my current Saab (1997 Talladega) and can't wait to hear how the new 9-3 drives... but it looks like I have to wait another 18 months for my favourite 3-door body style to be released (if at all). Methnks that Saab will alienate alot of Saab customers by releasing a conventional 4-door and wagon before the soft-top and 3-door.
