The only time you feel it is on a washboard road - otherwise it's very stable and comfortable. I have heard that the BMW is a bit more rigid, but here in the US you pay quite a bit for the privilege. With the BMW, you also end up driving a car with an image of serious snobbishness, whereas the Saab driver is just considered sort of an individualist. > >Also, are the turbo units reliable to last unchanged for say 100k? No problems at all. Just change the oil with a reasonable schedule and it will last a very long time. >Any other mechanical failings? The clutches seem to have a shorter life than my Japanese cars. I've seen lives posted from 50K(miles) to 110K, with most getting done around 75K. It's an expensive job to replace it. Most of the other issues were worked out long ago in the existing 9-3 line... although I think there were a few folks with manual tranny issues in the 2001/2002 Viggens (high output version of the 9-3 in the US).
