Subject: Best Saab in snow, was 900 '86 vs 9000 '87 vs 9000 turbo '85 - which to prefer?

Well, I've never driven a freewheeler, but the 99 was also a great snow machine, also because of the skinny snow tires and overall stance. If it weren't for the muffler, it would have had great clearance as well. The caveat is that I am talking about the ability to get out onto the street and make it to the destination. No doubt some of the newer Saabs with high performance snow tires and a lot more power would be a better choice when competing with the SUVs being mindlessly driven in 4-wheel drive, always in the left lane... The 99 was the first one out of our neighborhood for years. Didn't need the road to be all that clear, which gave me about an hour head start... Curtis L. Russell Odenton, MD.
