Subject: It's 30* F, where is your temp gauge?

I have a 97 900 SE T Conv. 1st cold weather with it. Wondering if my temp is normal or if my thermostat is stuck at least partially open. -When it's around 30*F outside and I'm at 70 mph for 15 mins. +, my temp settles at about 1/4 inch above the L in low. Nowhere near the middle. -When it's 20*F outside, temp settles just a hair above the L. -In either situation, heat doesn't seem blistering, though car is not really uncomfortable. Since I've replaced at least 5 thermostats in the 4 Saabs I've owned, I'm guessing that's it. Either that or it has a wrong-temp thermo installed. Can anyone else give me a read of their temp gauge in similar conditions? I'd appreciate it. All spring/summer/fall, temp rose to exactly halfway and didn't deviate at all, no matter the conditions. Also, any thoughts on how tough it is to do this job? I'm pretty handy but haven't done a thermo on a NG Saab yet. Is there a tech FAQ somewhere w/ the steps? Thanks much, -Micah
