They have a kind of reverse prestige. Go to the Kraus and Hemmings websites. The Vega was a truely terrible car, but your mileage might vary. I bought a new 73 Kamback as my first car. I drove carefully and serviced it conscienciously and it blew an engine at 40,000 miles. The firewall rusted through and the windshield almost fell out at 30 months. Manual transmission gears shattered three times. The problem was that the Vega was designed well, but GM 1) didn't test the design of their aluminum 4 Cyl engine, 2) didn't assemble Vegas well at all, and 3) didn't care enough to correct their manufacturing processes. The Pinto body was styled a little better, but Ford under- designed it in order to sell for less than the Vega. While its engines didn't blow up, they didn't last much longer. milt b
