Per, A particular, known problem in the 9000 CS/CDs (and maybe 9000's before and 9-5 after?) is the heater matrix. This rusts through and leaks, giving a strong, sweet smell in the cabin when the heater is used. Americans liken it to Maple Syrup though as a (reluctant) European that may mean very little to you - same with me. My own heater matrix went at about 80,000 miles (128,000 km). I acquired a replacement recently (good condition, recovered, from breakers, £35) but haven't yet found time to fit it. The good news (I hope) is that fitting is reasonably easy compared to many cars, as the "aquarium" is accessed from the engine compartment rather than the cabin. Hence no need to remove the dashboard. Yippee! Engine wise, I prefer the 2.3 over the 2.0. I just love the extra flexibility, though having said that a 2.0T will not disappoint though it will use more fuel and cost more to insure. My current vehicle is a 2.3 16i (non turbo). These are old and rare now, the more recent equivalent being the 2.3 Light Pressure Turbo (LPT). If I was buying today, that's what I would be seeking, with about 40-50,000 miles (64-80,000). Other things to watch out for (as personally experienced): - Gearbox whine (95,000 miles). - Individual instrument lamp failures. - Complete instrument lighting failure (intermittent). - Headlamp bulb security (heat causes wire clips to lose their spring). - Washer bottle leak (it's the T-piece underneath). Best of luck Adrian (UK) "Per Laursen" <per_laursennopsam.tele.dk> wrote in message news:3c3a0c41$0$238$edfadb0fnopsamol01.news.tele.dk... > Hi all, > > Shamelessly trying to sip some of the gained knowledge here, I'll ask: > > I'm starting to look for a used 9000, and I'd like some advice.
