Just a quick point on comparing the MPG figures. I think I'm right in saying that the USA uses the American gallon as compared to other countries (not many left) which use the imperial gallon. USA gallon is around 4 litres Imperial gallon is around 4.5 litres. If this is the case, the MPG figures quoted by the American posters would actually work out to a lower L/100km, or higher *imperial* MPG figure My quick rule of thumb is 10l/100km = 28 imperial MPG (approx) Your consumption over 8 km urban at very smooth driving, provided you're not sitting at lights for lengthy periods does seem excessive. However, if your trip involves quite a few red lights (refer Simon Putz's post) then perhaps all is normal. Incidently, my 2001 93 urban is around 14-15l/100km (has been higher) and highway 8l/100km Davo "Marc Delporte" <marc.delportenopsamdoo.fr> wrote in message news:a2f0du$iuv$1nopsamdoo.fr... > Consumption in urban - 9000 CSE 98 (200 hp, 5 speed manual) > > Sorry, my question was probably not well understood, as I was talking about > Litres per 100 km. > > From the responses, we do have: > > Earl & Ted Urban 25 mpg 9.5 > l/100 km > > Highways 28 mpg > 8.5 l/100 km > > Toby Urban in UK 18.5 mpg 12.7 > l/100 km > > These values sound good to me and I do experiment similar values, as least > on highways: > > 80 miles/h 130 km/h 9.0 l/100 km 26.0 mpg > > 100 miles/h 160 km/h 10.5 l/100 km 22.4 mpg > > 112 miles /h 180 km/h 11.5 l/100 km 20.5 mpg > > I do not have any values for lower speed i.e. 55 miles/h ! or 88 km/h :+) > > My problem is in urban areas (for short run about 6 to 8 km) even when > driving smoothly > > (i.e. no more than 3000 rpm) where I do experiment consumption of 18 l/100 > km i.e. only 13 mpg ! > > Does any body have experiment one day such high consumption problems?
