Bill Buckle in Brookvale, Sydney and Tynan Motors in Sutherland, Sydney for the Subaru. Buckle were initially very good but went bad when they got a lot of apprentices and let them work with minimum supervision. Once I had to take the car back 6 times to get something diagnosed and fixed. That's when I sold the Liberty! Tynan were OK on quality of work but once took a week to replace a smashed windscreen, and then used a cheaper substitute screen, not a Subaru one, without obtaining my permission. For the Saab, I bought the car from Rick Damelian on Parramatta Rd in Sydney and initially used them for service, but found them incompetent and bullshit artists as well. I had a problem with the electric seat adjustment memory that they couldn't fix until I found out myself what the problem was, reported it directly to Saab, and they developed a replacement switch which solved the problem. They also couldn't tell me what to do when I got a faulty brake/gear lever interlock solenoid and couldn't move the car. There was nothing in the 1998 9-5 handbook about the hidden release button. (I think there is in later handbooks, after I complained bitterly). They also "lost" the car for 24 hours after I had booked and taken it in for the first service. They insisted I had not booked it in at all - and that was the guy who actually booked it in face to face with me over the counter! They didn't find it until the next day - I suspect someone had taken it for a joyride. I was not impressed and never went back again. I now use Northshore European Cars at Brookvale in Sydney and they have been very good. They even diagnosed a possible faulty turbo when I reported a single puf of white smoke from the exhaust in the final service before end of warranty and replaced it under warranty, only a week before it expired. They could have left it and I would have had to pay. -- Regards, Peter Wilkins
