If it was only 1/8HP, it would not change the engine speed. I don't know enough about engineering to calculate the force, but the electrical load that's transferred to the alternator results in a significant drag. Also, I think if you add up all the lights that come on - head, parking, side - , it's more than 100watts. But, I was being a little facetious anyway. I turn my lights on whenever I think they will help - gray days, mountain passes, etc. I really don't need them driving to the grocery store in the middle of summer. Bob
