You seem very interested, Bob, in trying to establish that the problem is with me, rather than with Saab engineering. However, I'm not the only one who has encountered the driver's side mirror problem, and I've never found it in any other car, American or imported. When I last raised the point about the mirror in this news group, someone posted the information about the fix, which involves putting washers inside the mirror so that the blind spot is eliminated. I asked at the Saab dealers about this. Initially, they didn't know about it, but they later called me to say that they could fix it, and I should tell them when I wanted it fixed, so that they could get the parts. If I thought a European mirror could be installed, and would pass inspection, that would be my preferred solution. I believe anyone who's been following this news group for some time knows about the other points I made in my original posting. I'm just puzzled about the references to the design superiority of Saabs, when there are quite a few problems with Saabs that other manufacturers seem to have solved. This is a disappointment to me, since I had been interested in owning a Saab back to the days, a long time ago, when they had two-stroke engines.
